What Makes Briarwood So Exceptional?
We understand your passion for the outdoors. That’s why our values and our team align to make your time at Briarwood unforgettable.
If you’re an avid angler or hunter, you have a special connection with nature.
For some, it’s a sense of nostalgia—calling up fond memories of the outdoors. And for others, it elicits a feeling of adventure and rejuvenation that comes from “getting away from it all.” For most, it’s having a place to create new memories with family and friends.
We believe every outdoorsman should walk away from a hunt or fishing experience with incredible stories to tell and pictures you can share for a lifetime.

Mike has been with Briarwood since 2008, serving as the club manager and head guide. Passionate about the outdoors, he loves fishing, hunting, and enjoying nature. Mike’s extensive experience as a hunting guide helps hunters secure their trophy buck and his love for fishing provides fishing members with expert advice. Mike values the friendships and memories he has made through his years at Briarwood.
Favorite memory in the outdoors: Fishing in a Fight For Cancer Bass tournament circuit in memory of my step dad. We were sponsored by many local businesses to fish 6 different tournaments. We finished 8th out of 100 boats at the end of the circuit and that qualified us for the classic. It was a great experience with a great friend and fishing partner.

His 3,500-gallon koi pond and garden are personal highlights, reflecting his love for nature.
Favorite memory in the outdoors: My son and I hiked across the southern Rockies for 14 days, covering nearly 100 miles of tough terrain and very hot conditions. It was a real challenge and a joy to accomplish it with him.

Favorite memory in the outdoors: At a young age, I remember being woken up early one morning by my dad, who told me to gear up! I was going into the woods with him!
Trace Tevis
Guide & Grounds Maintenance
Trace, born and raised near Bellefontaine, Ohio, has been an avid hunter his whole life. He has meticulously maintained the lodges and grounds at Briarwood since 2018, ensuring top-notch accommodations for every visit. Trace enjoys getting to know the guests while he guides fishing and hunting experiences. When he first meets a Briarwood guest, his hope is that they will experience just how truly special Briarwood is, because of the unique geography, abundant fishing, graceful wildlife, and the rustic yet modern lodging.
While you are enjoying your stay at Briarwood, be careful when challenging him to a game of cornhole—he’s an athlete through and through and even a game of cornhole brings out his competitive side.
Favorite memory in the outdoors: My favorite memory in the outdoors is when I shot my first deer with my compound bow within the last 30 minutes of the season. I hunted hard all season, and stalked within 30 yards of a mature doe to take my shot. Once I watched her go down, I felt on top of the world because I had pushed that hard and finally became successful doing what I love to do.
Jody Butler
Housekeeping/Gardening
Jody has been working at Briarwood since 2020, ensuring the lodges are spotless and welcoming for guests. She also takes pride in maintaining the beautiful flowers around the property. Known for her friendly demeanor and dedication, Jody is appreciated by both clients and staff.
A proud grandma and avid gardener, she loves working in such a gorgeous setting. Her favorite aspects of Briarwood are the wonderful clients and the stunning landscape. Current members often praise the cleaning crew for their exceptional service, reflecting Jody’s commitment to making every stay at Briarwood memorable.
Favorite memory in the outdoors at Briarwood: While folding laundry outside of Pine Lodge, I noticed the deer watching me, and I was just as mesmerized by the sight of them as they were of me.
Pam Berry
Housekeeping
Pam has been part of the Briarwood team since 2023 and loves every moment of it. As a member of the Housekeeping Team, she ensures the lodges are in perfect condition for guests. Pam is enchanted by Briarwood’s rolling hills, lakes, streams, and wildlife, considering it a little piece of heaven. A lifelong Logan County resident and a 1975 Benjamin Logan High School graduate, she retired from Honda after 34 years of service.
Pam appreciates the family environment, stunning scenery, and friendly members and staff at Briarwood. She is grateful for the supportive owners, Chris and Kristy, who prioritize staff and members.
Favorite memory in the outdoors: I was a kid in the 1960s and loved playing outside with my brothers and my childhood friends.
Les Levan
Jack of all Trades
Les brought more than four decades of experience in the electrical and HVAC industries when he joined the team in 2016. His expertise with mechanical maintenance has made him a valuable resource for Briarwood, originally one of his customers. He is a go-to for providing preventive maintenance and repair for everything at the club from heating and cooling systems, plumbing, club vehicles and construction equipment, to power equipment and appliances.
As a lifelong Logan county resident, and previous longtime neighbor to the club, Les takes great pride in Briarwood and enjoys the challenges of troubleshooting, designing innovative solutions for mechanical systems, and working with the team to keep everything operating behind the scenes. He loves spending time with his wife Sandy, along with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, and enjoys playing music with them and friends. Now in his 70s, he can’t imagine retiring… “I love what I do and enjoy helping the team and members create the best Briarwood experiences. It’s not really work to me!”
Favorite memory of the outdoors: My parents owned 23 acres of the club which they sold to the previous owners back in 1978. Before then I had the opportunity to walk and explore every inch of this area and enjoyed the scenic beauty and wildlife then as much as I do today. Now I can share this with my grandkids and great grandkids.
Mike Kenoyer
Grounds Maintenance
Mike has been a part of the team since 2015 and started prior to his retirement from Honda where he worked in Corporate Planning for nearly 30 years. As the lead mower for the club, he spends 10-15 hours a week during the growing season keeping the turf areas around the club nicely manicured and beautiful. His continued, detail-focused attention to the grass areas around the lodges, lakes, ponds, and streams keeps them accessible for all.
Mike too is a lifelong resident of the area and he and his wife live just 2 miles from the club. He gained his experience in mowing and landscaping by maintaining their property which has more than 12 acres to manage. He takes great pride to ensure the club looks its best for our members and hunters. He considers it very fulfilling work and enjoys hearing the word “manicured” from anyone enjoying the club! During the hunting season, Mike often transports hunters to and from the local airports and club. When not mowing, Mike enjoys family time with his four kids and four grandkids along with golf, frisbee golf, walking with his wife, and exploring wineries.
Favorite memory of the outdoors: Hands down it has to be the recent total solar eclipse here in Ohio. What an experience! I was in awe of the science behind it and the effect, as well as the opportunity to experience it from my home with my family, including my 100 year old mother-in-law.
