If you’re new to fishing, want to refresh your skills, or have a group of friends or colleagues to impress, our instructors and guides will give you everything you need to boost your skills and impress your guests. Our fishing guides are some of our esteemed angler team members and guides provided from our partners, Orvis-Worthington.

Fly Fishing Instruction

Standard courses are between 2.5 and 4 hours where we’ll provide the gear and instruction you need to establish or grow your fly fishing skills. Everything at Briarwood can be customized to fit your needs. When booking, be sure to mention if you have any special requests.

Guided Fishing Services

This personal guide service takes members and guests throughout Briarwood to help you learn the strategies, locations, bait types, and gear to use to help you have a successful experience. Whether you prefer fly or spin fishing, we will fully customize your session to meet your needs.

Learn To Fly Fish at Briarwood

With our instructors, you’ll establish this new fly fishing skill or improve upon your skills so you can fully enjoy the time you set aside for your angling adventure.

Here’s What You’ll Get:

The Gear

You’ll use our high quality Orvis gear while you learn all the terms, types of flies and their uses, and our team will even provide recommendations on where to buy the gear and how to get discounts!

The Technique

With the right instruction and enough practice, you’ll learn to present and retrieve your fly, strike-set, and land the fish. We’ll also cover safe catch and release.

The Fish

You’ll practice casting your rod on both lakes and streams, while learning about fish behaviors to maximize your experience at Briarwood.

After completing the fly fishing course, you’ll have access to instructors for follow up questions over the next month. A standard course is 2.5 hours, but additional time may be added.  Groups up to 10 are welcome. Gratuity is not included.

At Briarwood, you’ll always have a special place to fish. By booking a fly fishing instruction course you will be more successful and have more fun within this well-loved and respected sport.

The Fine Print:

  1. Instruction is generally available March 15–December 1, 7:30am–3:00pm, based on weather and guide availability. Alternate hours will be considered upon request. Instruction is not available Mon–Wed, mid-September to December 1, due to hunting season.
  2. Minimum age for learners is 9 years – must be accompanied by an adult. The adult doesn’t have to be a learner but must be fully present during the entire instruction.
  3. A member must be present at the club during lessons for guests.
  4. Trout can be catch and release OR catch and keep at posted rates per live pound.
  5. Lake fish cleaning services are available at normal club rates.
  6. Scheduling based on guide availability and in advance only. 2 week notice minimum.
  7. Payment required at time of booking.
  8. Cancellations can be made up to 7 days prior for full refund minus $50 fee. Cancellations made less than 7 days prior may be entitled to refunds minus $50 fee if there are extenuating circumstances. Decisions will be made by Briarwood and are final.
  9. Customized services and group fly clinics are also available.

Enjoy Guided Lake Fishing Services at Briarwood

With a fishing guide by your side, members and guests will learn the strategies, locations, bait types, and gear to use while fishing their way at Briarwood.

Here’s What You’ll Get:

The Gear

From one of our jon boats or from the shore, you’ll get hands-on practice with different types of gear, while learning uses for each. Gear rental is available for an extra fee.

The Technique

You’ll get hands-on assistance including: baiting, casting, fish removal, fishing knots and equipment troubleshooting. This is completely customized to your needs and level of experience.

The Fish

We’ll show you where and how to catch each species of fish you’re interested in catching. You’ll learn all about fish behaviors, habitat, and the best strategies to use.

A standard outing includes 1 guide with up to 3 learners for 3 hours, but additional anglers and time may added.  We are happy to accommodate larger groups, please inquire with the team at Briarwood.  Gratuity is not included.
